Is fear of the unknown holding you back?

As a coach, I hear a lot about fear. Fear of failure and not knowing what might happen. Having space to consider this and find ways of reframing can make those fears diminish and the thought of trying something new or stepping out of the comfort zone a lot easier.

The unknown.  We dread it.  It’s uncharted territory.  We don’t know what we’ll find there.  There are so many reasons for us to feel uncomfortable about this at best and to fear and avoid it at all costs at worst. We will choose to stay with what we know, no matter how uncomfortable, frustrated, unhappy even it makes us.  We will stay in a job we hate, avoid making new decisions in business, stay with an often stagnant status quo, longing for change, but unable to cross into the unknown.

Your beliefs are not facts

Change your limiting beliefs

Are your limiting beliefs holding you back?

On the simplest level, if you don’t feel generally satisfied, comfortable, strong about you and your place in the world, then it’s highly likely you will have some limiting beliefs holding you back. These can weigh you down and create an unhelpful narrative in your mind, which can be the instigator of impostor phenomenon or syndrome.

Are your beliefs limiting your potential?

Coaching is all about seeing things from another perspective. Most people develop a pattern of behaviours that remains largely unchanged for much of their life. These patterns are usually formed during childhood and early adulthood, where we are learning about the world and people. These patterns also contribute to our beliefs and how we see ourselves and others. Some of these beliefs can be negative and limit our potential to do many things, including being confident, successful and even happy. Read more
